Should our racial identity be defined by our physical attributes Essay
Should our racial identity be defined by our physical attributes - Essay Example First off, one of the most significant attributes among people is their color of skin. It is a standpoint for racial conflicts and discrimination, therefore. Thus, humanity is well driven by analyzing characteristic features of individuals in relation to physical attributes, but not those which are more vital. It is all about, an individualââ¬â¢s reason, passion, talent, use for the society, etc. Black or white, Asian or Indian, - all these attributes make a huge part of the contemporary society run into misconception in possessing different things and stratum within the society. Living in America, many of individuals urge to create their identities in close relation to their physical attributes. In fact, it is taken for granted today, and no one can refuse that a personââ¬â¢s appearance is the core attribute to get well in this life. It is a ââ¬Å"credit cardâ⬠of an individual letting him/her know if he/she can go another step in the social stratification and in the car eer ladder as well. This is the truth of contemporary life. The society believes in this assumption just because it was delivered from one generation to another throughout the history of the United States. Such impulses are so strong that it seems impossible to fight them or somehow reduce. Even with the African-American president, the situation has changed not a jot. As an Armenian, I feel responsible to pay everyoneââ¬â¢s attention to the topic that is not new for everyone living in a multinational country. It is really difficult to pay peopleââ¬â¢s attention to more reasonable and constructive decisions while communicating the ethnical equality which makes all individuals and citizens united and, therefore, strong in the national idea. However, communicating ethnicity is not suffice, as ââ¬Å"the ethnic option is conceptualized in individual rather than collective termsâ⬠(Fong and Chuang 308). Thus, a person himself/herself chooses to either humiliate or defend someb ody as it concerns with oneââ¬â¢s viewpoints on life and social inequality. To say more, racial identity as well as racial discrimination is a result of the historical development of the mankind. In this respect the era of colonialism, expansion, and enslavement ââ¬Å"imprintedâ⬠and allegedly justified the winners and the losers of the ââ¬Å"ethnical race,â⬠so to speak. Individuals in majority are likely to put constraints for those in minority in order to make the presence and performance of the first pure, and genuinely more authentic. Unfortunately, the vast majority of contemporary people are perpetually haunted by various stereotypes regarding their identity. It seems taken for granted that African Americans and other minorities should stay behind the scenes of the national dialogue on equal rights just because they do not fit into a so-called ââ¬Å"divineâ⬠image of a civilized person. In turn, it hurts and, frankly speaking, destructs peopleââ¬â¢s se lf-esteem and identity (Burke 85). Thus, social forces are still ineffective in, first, discussing and, second, solving the problem of misunderstanding widely spread over different ethnical communities nationwide. It is a challenge for the nation; it is a challenge for every ordinary individual being a part of the nation as well. Strange as it may seem, a manââ¬â¢s appearance is a prerequisite to estimate his/her talents, goals, and preferences. However, it sounds

Marketing - Assignment Example To select the best place to market its products apple should conduct porterââ¬â¢s industry forces between China and Mexico. A lot has been said about the competition between Mexico and China as potential markets for electronic products. The two countries have little in common in terms of culture, social aspects, and political front, but when it comes to business, they have so many similarities. Some many institutions have continued to trust the two economic engines more than the rest of the world markets because of their higher growth rate. In terms of overall potential buying power, China stands a better chance than Mexico due to its larger population than the later. The Chinese population is more than six times that of Mexico, thus making the country a good market destination. However, Bob and Luis (par. 9-12) highlighted that the buying potential power in Mexico is larger than that in China since Mexicoââ¬â¢s GDP per capita is approximately six times higher than that of China standing at $7,467 while that of china is $1,240. The threat of substitutes of electronics and software is important for Apple Inc when marketing its products either in China or in Mexico. China has one disadvantage because it is a potential market for Appleââ¬â¢s substitute products and people in China would rather go for a similar product performing similar function at a lower price than buying an expensive one. This means that apple would be forced to sell its products at lower prices China to overcome its competitorsââ¬â¢ products and hence low revenues as suggested by Baidu (13-14). Meanwhile, Mexico would be a great market destination for Appleââ¬â¢s products since there are few players in the market and the availability of substitute products is low. Thus, the probability of Apple earning better returns in Mexico than in China is high and it is easier to monopolize the

Whole Foods: a Whole-Istic Strategy
1. Define Whole foodsââ¬â¢ ââ¬Å"productâ⬠. How does it deliver value to customers? The Whole Foods Market chain was the first retailer in the United States offering products to its customers that are natural (grown without being treated with growth hormones or antibiotics) and ââ¬â¢certified organicââ¬â¢. The product of Whole Foods are organic, natural and gourmet foods, taking into account the environment as an important factor, and making of the earth the first priority. heyââ¬â¢re not a company selling cheap products but theyââ¬â¢re a company selling quality and health to their customers. Theyââ¬â¢re not giving importance to businnes, but to quality and satisfy their customers. Whole foods is not only taking care of their customers but also of the environment and of our oplanet. Whole foods deliver value to their customers by selling the highest quality natural and organic products available, satisfying and delighting their customers, supporting team member happiness and excellence, creating wealth through profits and growth, caring about communities and the environment, creating ongoing win-win partnerships with their suppliers and promoting the health of their stakeholders through healthy eating education. 2. Organic food are becoming very popular. Many chains, including Wal-Mart, have begun offering and expading their selection of organics. Does this pose a competitive threat to Whole Foods? Wal-Mart represent a big threat to the Whole Foods stores, because it is starting to offer organic products at lower prices and if consumers start to see this in Wal-mart theyââ¬â¢re going to start buying in there, but now in the USA all Products sold as ââ¬Å"Organicâ⬠must now meet the requirements of the USDA Organic Rule, and every product most under a number show how organic is their product, that could be an advantage for Whole Foods because it can show that the quality meet the prices that they have, and for Wal-Mart could be a little difficult to have such quality product at such a low price. . With respect to Whole Foodsââ¬â¢ targeting and positioning strategies, what challenges will the company face in the future as it continues to grow and expand? As it grows and expand itââ¬â¢s difficult to the market of organic food to keep all of these demand as far as it has Whole-Foods, it is also very difficult to satisfy the expectations of all the customers using suc h a high quality level in each of the products. For high quality products it is improtant to takle care of every item that comes out to the market, and it is so expensive for Whole Foods to do that so it is going to reduce quality. It is also important to know that Whole Foods incomes are flattening and net income is plummeting. And this is all going to create a debt for Whole foods and making such expensive products, they most cut costs to make make the company more proffitable. 4. In some places, Whole Foods is commonly known as ââ¬Å"Whole Paycheckâ⬠While the firm has clearly positioned itself away from pricing issues, can it avoid this element of the marketing mix forever? Why or why not? It can avoid them by giving lower prices to their customers, but itââ¬â¢s difficult because theyââ¬â¢re offering organic quality products, which in countries like the United States are very expensive to afford. It is very difficult to overcome this situation but Whole Foods is doing well by offering more discounts, increasing lower-priced store brands, advertising products they sell at a good value and organizing budget-focused store tours. This could be a major move for Whole Foods to create a new image of their market. . What other trends in the future of retailing do you think will have an impact on Whole Foods? The economy have it cycles but in the other hand it gives some trends like itââ¬â¢s people taking care of their health, there is a lot of people with their awareness and their consciousness and how lifestyle plays into the role of health. Thereââ¬â¢s a million of people realizing they want vitality in their lives. And these are big trends. These are shifts that people are not going to go back from.
